Your property is basically a large ten acre square, 660' by 660'. Its east boundary is Stewart Road and then it runs to the west, along a beautiful cove to the south, towards the main lake. The main lake is mostly obscured by trees but the cove is easily viewed from your front porch and is just a few feet downhill from your yard. When the water is low, you have your own private beach. Because of the slope of the land, there is very little Corps of Engineer property between the yard and the water (and none when the water is high.)
Trees hide your house and land from any boats on the lake, and provide cooling shade though out the summer. Boat traffic is fairly rare on this under-utilized lake, even though there is a public boat ramp just across the cove.
The front porch (64' x 7') extends the entire south side of the house to help shade and cool the house in the summer and let warm sunlight enter during the winter. The double-hung, tilt-for-cleaning windows can be opened even during the rain, due to the porch over-hang. The West side of the house boasts a large screened-in porch with pass through windows to the kitchen/dining area. Ceiling fans help keep the area cool and French doors can be opened to the living room to open this area to the rest of the house during nice weather.
Just below the porch, the front of the house is landscaped with easy-care Crepe Myrtle and Rose of Sharon, which are drought tolerant and bloom throughout the summer. An additional garden area also features drought tolerant perennials which attract butterflies and hummingbirds well into the fall. Large boulders line the driveway and separate the more open front lawn from the lightly wooded picnic area closer to the lake.
The area immediately around the house, approximately 1 1/2 acres, is fenced so small children and pets are protected and unwanted strangers are kept out. There is an estate gate across the driveway which can be locked for additional security.
